The word krotta is contracted into krotta in compounds in the following hard or soft consonants in Telugu words are doubled as krokkannu (krotta+kannu), krokkaru(krotta+karu), krottavi (krotta+tavi) , kronnana (krotta+nana), kronnalupu, kronnurugu, kronnetturu, kronnala, krommudi, krommerugu. krommona, krovvadi, krovviri. &c. In some cases, this change is made even when a Skt. word follows, as krommeghamulu (bhi. iii.) In some cases, again, when a hard consonant follows, krotta is contracted into kro where the ṃsunna stands for the letter nu but the succeding consonant is not doubled but changed into a soft one, as kroṃzaya, kronjemata, krondammi, krombasidi, kromboga, &c.
